Attendance and Instructional Recovery (AIR)

Valdez Educational Services can implement an Attendance and Instructional Recovery (AIR) program at your school.

This program takes place at the school site on Saturdays from 10 am to 2:30 pm and focuses on differentiated, skills-based tutoring of foundational skills.  It combats the effects of chronic student absences by reviewing missed assignments and materials, and strengthening students’ basic skills.

Program components include:

  • face-to-face group tutoring

  • online tutoring

  • non-cognitive skills workshops, and

  • academic games

Building a relationship with all stakeholders is part of a vital blueprint for the successful implementation of the program:

  • Collaboration with administrators and teachers allow for focused instruction that target students’ specific needs

  • Phone calls are made directly to parents to provide them with specific information regarding the program

  • Individual follow-up visits are conducted the week after students attend the Saturday Attendance and Instructional Recovery program to reinforce skills and build a relationship with the student and family.

The program is flexible and can be structured to meet the specific needs of administrators.
